UK iPhone owners interested for mobile banking

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE British have announced that they are increasingly open to use their mobile phones for banking, with iPhone owners the most curious ones to manage money through their handsets, according to market buzz. 21% of Brits would pay their bills through a mobile phone if they had the choice, 25% would transfer funds, 36% check their balances, 17% pay other people and 13% make contactless payments. The buzz also unveils that men are more likely to use mobile money than women and respondents from the south of England are inquisitive with those from the Midlands least convinced. Overall, young respondents are most interested in mobile services, with over half of the 18-24 year olds quizzed wanting to check their balances using their phone, compared to just 21% of those over 55. Hughes Communications connects 2,500 locations under NeGP Initiative

The contract has been awarded to them by CSC-SPV (CSC e-Governance Services India Limited), on behalf of DIT (Department of Information Technology), through a tender process. The main objective of this project is to make available broadband access to Internet and other digital services available to the un-served users over satellite using latest standards and technologies like DVB S2 with ACM. HP announces its TouchPad and WeboS failure

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE HP has announced that the death of the TouchPad tablet and the uncertain future of WebOS can represent big issues for them, but partners may also be affected by the fallout. In its first major push into mobile in years, HP launched its TouchPad tablet in June. The tablet runs the Webos mobile operating system. Leo Apotheker, CEO, HP, said that the options for WebOS remained open. We were successful at launching software that was poised with a differentiated user experience. We know that many developers feel the operating system is elegantly designed and is a respected platform. Kochi Smart City ITproject to begin soon

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE During a recently conducted meeting, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy announced that the awaited Smart City ITproject will begin September-end. The road map for the mega project, which is expected to come up on a 250-acre plot in Kochi, is expected to provide close-to 100,000 jobs. Chandy informed that the things were moving fast and the work would begin next month according to their timetable drawn up since the time they took over. "All the hitches are over and it is going to be on the fast track," said Chandy. Incidentally, it was Chandy who had first finalized the proposed mega IT project in his previous tenure. The succeeding Left Democratic Front, headed by V. S. Achuthanandan, laid the foundation stone for the project, but nothing else happened during his rule. PC market in US is overtaken by China

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE After three decades of American dominance in an industry pioneered by Apple Inc and International Business Machines Corp., US personal-computer market is overtaken by China last quarter. PC shipments in China rose 14 per cent to 18.5 million units during Q2, the first time they surpassed the number in the US, where they fell 4.8 per cent to 17.7 million, as per industry buzz. China will likely pass the US in 2012 on a full-year basis. The estimates highlight the growing importance of China, which passed the US in 2009 in the car market, as the world's consumer. The value of computer shipments in China in the second quarter was $11.9 billion, compared with $11.7 billion for the US. Yahoo Japan to roll Android phone
