Vodafone introduces Mobile Wallet Service "M-Pesa" in India

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   Vodafone India has launched "M-Pesa" - a mobile money transfer and payment service. "M-Pesa" is the trademark of Vodafone. The service was launched in Kolkata by Marten Pieters, MD & CEO, Vodafone India Ltd, and Rajiv Sabharwal, Executive Director, ICICI Bank. “M-Pesa”, which is being launched initially in the eastern parts of the country, effectively leverages the combined strengths of Vodafone’s global expertise in the domain of mobile payments and significant distribution reach in India plus the security of financial transactions provided by ICICI Bank. It is initially being offered in West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand through over 8,300 specially trained authorized agents and will soon be rolled out across the country in a phased manner. Aircel launches PI-24 Data Plan for Mobile Users

This plan will provide a higher validity of 30 days at Rs.24. This offer will enable customers to experience and experiment internet on their mobile phones at an economical price of less than Re.1 per day. Pocket Internet 24 plan will offer adequate data to help familiarize with popular search engine and social networking websites. HCL Technologies announces Q3 Financial Results

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   HCL Technologies  has announced its third-quarter fiscal report. As per the financial results, during the 12 months' period ended 31st March, 2013, the company  revenues have increased by 27% YoY (INR),  while the earnings per share have grown 74% YoY (INR). The company has achieved a net income of Rs.1,040 crore which is up by 72.6% YoY. The revenue received is up by 23.2 %, i.e. Rs.6,425 crore, along with the dividend achievement of 2.0 per share. The GAAP EPS (Diluted) is at US$1.07 which has gone up 60.4% YoY. HCL's Digilife partners with Simmtronics

Under this arrangement,  DDMS  will distribute Simmtronics tablets in South and East India, thereby reaching the distribution beyond tier-I cities. Digilife will be responsible for distribution of the Simmtronics tablets to all LFRs, Regional Organized Trade accounts, Teleshopping Channels  and Chain Stores across India. Orders from the government will also be targeted and addressed. Through this tie-up, Simmtronics is aiming at an additional turnover of Rs.300 crore and 6 lakh tablets in the year 2013.
