Telecom sector is being taxed like non-essential items : Balesh Sharma, CEO, Vodafone Idea said in a statement, the telecom sector is being taxed like non-essential items such as liquor and cigarette, instead of being treated as critical infrastructure. 'We have got customs duty at 23%, GST at 18%,' he said. 'We paid lot of money for spectrum, that's the reason for so much of debt that we're carrying,' Sharma said. Reliance Jio Post Rs 840 Cr In Profit In Q4 : Reliance Jio Thursday reported a net profit of Rs 840 crore for Q4, ended March 31, 2019 showing a Q-o-Q growth of 1.1%. In Q3 the company had posted profits of Rs 831 crore. However, on a year-on-year basis, the company's net profit grew 64.7%. In Q4 for FY 2018, Jio's net profit was 510 crore.
