Belkin's Initiative to secure Wi-Fi Connection

Belkin has taken steps for preparing a list of precautionary measures to enlighten Indian Wi-Fi users. To prevent the Wi-Fi connection to be misused and to protect it against the worm called Bluepill (originated in Australia), Belkin believes it is extremely important to take precautions against such kind of attacks. Some of these measures are changing the Default Password and choosing a difficult password and disabling remote administration, unless the user really needs this. Belkin also asks its users not to broadcast their SSID (Service Set IDentifier) as most WLAN access points and routers automatically broadcast the network's name or SSID, turning off which would make it invisible to the user’s neighbours and passers-by. Mohit Anand, Managing Director, India Sucontinent, Belkin India, said, “Belkin has always been proactive in making Wi-Fi connections secure. Keeping that in mind, our NetNext range has a preset security feature which gives a unique SSID and password to every r
