India Server Market shows signs of growth, IDC

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   According to International Data Corporation (IDC) APeJ server tracker; the x86 server market in India grew by 10% in terms of unit shipments in Q3 2014 as compared to Q3 2013. The major contributors to this growth were Professional Services, Communications & Media, Banking and Retail verticals. The non x86 server market, however, saw a decline of 58% in terms of revenue in Q3 2014 as compared to Q3 2013 due to large refreshes in the verticals like banking and telecom being on hold due to various factors. This market is expected to revive in the coming quarters as these verticals battle the need for more compute due to transitioning needs of their business teams. IDC perceives a slow start for Indian PC Market in Q1'14

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   According to the  International Data Corporation (IDC) , the overall India PC shipments for Q1 2014 stood at 2.03 million units, representing a year-on-year drop of -25.2% over Q1 2013. The overall India PC market continued to decline in Q1 2014, largely owing to poor end-user demand. The overall Commercial PC segment recorded total shipments of 1.02 million units, showing a marginal increase of 4.1% sequentially over Q4 2013.  Kiran Kumar, Research Manager of Client Devices, IDC India , comments, "The overall Commercial PC market showed first signs of improvement over the last 9-10 months as investment activities have improved in the Banking and Government verticals. India's Hardcopy Peripherals Market grows sequentially–IDC

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   The  India Hardcopy Peripherals (HCP) market  is reviving as seen in 2014 Q1, despite the slowdown in the consumer segment. The growth was primarily driven by the Government’s procurement and supported by the Medium and Large Enterprises in India. According to the  International Data Corporation (IDC) , the HCP market in India grew 1.5% sequentially in 2014 Q1 and reached 801,000 units in terms of shipments. This was largely driven by the Government’s buying in the Laser segment, which recorded a significant sequential growth of 12.8%. But, on the other hand, Inkjet segment performed weakly due to low consumer demand across all price band segments, resulting in a marginal growth of 1.5%. Unified Communications market in India declined by 2.3%

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   According to the  International Data Corporation (IDC) , the overall Unified Communications market in India has seen a marginal decline of 2.3% in 1H13 as compared to 1H12. 10% decline in Enterprise Telephony market has pulled down the overall UC revenues in 1H13, whereas other markets like Enterprise Collaborations and Contact Centre have seen a decent growth of 4-6% as compared to 1H12. Enterprise Telephony market is suffering due to a combination of market factors: Firstly, IP-PBX solutions are eating into the TDM-PBX solutions revenues as the former gives better RoI for end-customers. Secondly, all the major vendors have started offering Software-based IP-PBX solutions, which is cutting their hardware revenues.
