LG invests in TV Data and Measurement firm Alphonso, acquires controlling stake:  LG Electronics   has announced an investment of almost USD 80 million in the TV data and measurement firm   Alphonso . With this investment LG will become Alphonso’s largest investor with a controlling stake of more than 50 percent.   LG will utilize Alphonso software and services which includes data analytics, media planning and activation, and Video AI capabilities with its wide portfolio of home entertainment products. As per news source, by early next year LG has plans to add products based on Internet of Things (IoT) in its home appliances portfolio. To come up with IoT-based products, the company is in talks with many mobile network service operators. Ki Wan Kim, Managing Director, LG Electronics India, said, “Possibly by the end of this year or early next year, LG’s first IoT-based products would be introduced in the country. He also added that LG is already selling such products in Korea but in India the wait is because of a partnership with a telecom service provider for data connectivity.” Read More

LG Electronics has roped in Kim Ki-Wan as the Managing Director of its India operations with effect from August 1, 2015. Presently, Kim is the Executive Vice-President of LG’s Home Entertainment Overseas Sales & Marketing Group. LG India has strengthened its market leadership in consumer durables under Kwon’s tenure and continued to register double-digit growth in core consumer durable business in first half of 2015 as in 2014 as well. LG Electronics has announced availability of its premium flagship smartphone, LG G Flex2 in India, powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with X10 LTE, a product of Qualcomm Technologies. Bollywood superstars Anil Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri showcased their directorial debut through 4K Ultra HD videos and still shots on the G Flex2.
