Make in India: Gionee to invest $50 million to make handsets in India

Chinese smartphone maker gionee will invest $50 million approximately 330 core over next 3 years to make handsets in india. Taking Narendra Modi’s Make in India announcement ahead, the company has partnered global manufacturers Foxconn and Dixon to begin India production. Gionee’s ‘Make In India’ will happen at the facilities of Dixon Technologies and Foxconn which are based at Delhi-NCR and Andhra Pradesh respectively. Foxconn will start this association by manufacturing F Series and P Series phones from the existing Gionee portfolio while Dixon will be making feature phones and other smartphones for Gionee in India. Both the partners will start production in October. They have a capacity of more than 1.2 million handsets per month between them.Gionee said it will also increase investment in its R&D team in India which will work on software to give a better consumer experience... element14 has globally launched the 7″ Touchscreen Display for the Raspberry Pi, expanding the ecosystem of accessories, to enable users to create all-in-one integrated projects such as turning their Pi into a tablet, infotainment system or embedded project. Compatible with Raspberry Pi 2, and Raspberry Pi 1 models B+ and A+, the screen can be used to make ‘Internet of Things’ (IoT) devices with a visual display. Connect the Raspberry Pi, develop a Python script, and create home automation devices with touchscreen capability. Toyota to spend $50 Million on artificial intelligence study and development

Toyota is all set to make a $50-million investment on research and development of artificial intelligence for the next five years. The company is collaborating with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University for the project. The initiative will focus on developing intelligent vehicles and life-improving robots to meet the challenges of expanding urban centres and ageing populations. The partnership will see joint research centres established at each university under the direction of Dr Gill Pratt, former Programme Manager at the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Apple’s next-gen iPad, iPhones are now powered by new chips

Apple has recently introduced its iPad Pro, iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, powered by new chips with an updated architecture, at the 7,000-person capacity Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. The iPad Pro runs on a 64bit A9X, Apple’s third generation of custom designed processors. Apple officials announced that A9X has twice the memory bandwidth than A8X and is 1.8 times faster than the 8X processor inside the MacBook Air 2. The tablet supports 802.11ac MIMO and up to 150Mbit/s LTE.
