Symantec ramps up its Cyber Security business with US$50-Million Investment

Symantec has announced plans to beef up its Cyber Security Services business globally with an investment of more than US$50 million. A portion of this investment has been leveraged to build a new dedicated Security Operations Center (SOC) in Singapore, doubling Symantec’s Cyber Security Services expertise in the Asia-Pacific region. With the launch of the SOC in Singapore, businesses will have access to intelligence, accurate threat detection and proactive notification of emerging threats to ensure their most sensitive data is protected. 1.6 Billion Connected Things will be used by Smart Cities in 2016-Gartner

Gartner has estimated that 1.6 billion connected things will be used by smart cities in 2016, an increase of 39 per cent from 2015. “Smart commercial buildings will be the highest user of Internet of Things (IoT) until 2017, after which smart homes will take the lead with just over 1 billion connected things in 2018,” said Bettina Tratz-Ryan, Research Vice-President, Gartner. “Commercial real estate benefits greatly from IoT implementation. IoT creates a unified view of facilities management as well as advanced service operations through the collection of data and insights from a multitude of sensors. Adobe appoints new Head of Marketing for APAC

Adobe has appointed Marta DeBellis as the new Vice-President – Marketing for the company’s Asia-Pacific operations, stepping into the position recently vacated by Hisamichi Kinomoto, who has resumed a full-time focus on the company’s important market in Japan. DeBellis will report to Adobe CMO Ann Lewnes, and work alongside Paul Robson, APAC President. Accenture teams up with Code.org to advance Coding Literacy

Accenture is teaming up with Code.org to support global participation in Hour of Code, one of the world’s largest educational events, designed to prove anyone can learn the basics of coding, have fun doing it, then continue learning beyond one hour.  Thousands of Accenture employees around the world have pledged to complete nearly 8,000 hours of Code during the Computer Science Education Week (December 7-13).  This number is expected to grow as Accenture employees commit to an Hour of Code and volunteer to work with teachers and Code.org to help students learn the basics of computer science at local schools and events through fun, game-like online lessons. Virtusa signs strategic pact with Volvo Group Treasury

Virtusa Corporation has announced that it has entered into an agreement with Volvo Group Treasury to provide global incident management support for the Wallstreet Suite financial system. As per the agreement, the system support will be available 24 hours a day, five days a week, for Volvo’s operations across the globe. Virtusa’s support services will enable Volvo to effectively meet increased demand for advanced treasury system support with faster response time. Volvo Group Treasury is a global organization with operations in Europe, North and South America, and Asia.
