India sees 54% of total phishing volume in APAC in 2013, says RSA report

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   RSA, the security division of EMC  has revealed the  Fraud report 2013 . As per the report, India has emerged as the top nation in the APAC region in terms of phishing attack by volume closely followed by Australia and China. The estimated loss in India from phishing attacks stood at $225 million. Globally, the loss due to phishing attack was close-to $5.9 billion which is significantly higher than $1.5 billion loss in 2012. The total number of phishing attacks in 2013 stood at 448,126 as against 445,004 in the previous year. Phishing Increase year-on-year from 2010 to 2013 The overall trend in the attack number showed a significant rise in volume through the year, reaching an all-time high in Q4 2013 (1,41,254). Phishing growth by Quarter 2012/2013 The report further reveals that the phishing volumes will not drop considerably, though we may see a slight decline. Cyberoam witnesses over 50% revenue growth over 2012-13

Micromax begins smartphone manufacturing in India

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   As per the latest update, the domestic mobile device company  Micromax  has started manufacturing handsets in India. Going by the reports, Micromax will make handsets at its  Rudraprayag facility in Uttarakhand . According to a spokesperson from Micromax, “Micromax has a  manufacturing plant in Rudraprayag  where it manufactures LED and tablets. The company started manufacturing mobile phones a couple of months back. Micromax is already producing all the tablets that are being sold in India at this facility. However, production of mobile phones is at the initial stage presently.” As per the 2013 market research report firm  IDC , Micromax had 13-per cent market share in the total mobile phone segment and 16 per cent in the smartphone market in the last quarter...... Canon launches a slew of PIXMA inkjet printers
