InfoWatch reveals Annual Global Study

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   InfoWatch has revealed that, in 2011, having compromised 223 million records, organizations spent more than $500 million on damage control following information leaks. Throughout the investigated period, 801 incidents involving confidential data leaks were reported, an increase of 1% from the previous year. The proportion of accidental and intentional leaks was almost equal - 43% and 42%. Commercial enterprises were, as before, most typical sources of confidential information leaks, at 45%. However, when compared to the previous year, their proportion decreased by 25%. The lion's share of all incidents of data leaks involves personal data (92.4%). A large number of personal data leaks occur as a consequence of improper disposal of paper documents, or loss or theft of devices. VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   Edimax Technologies has announced that it is adopting the Regional Distributor (RD) model to further enhance its impressive growth story in India. Edimax invites Regional Distributors across India for distribution of its quality products and to cater to the increased demand across various customer segments for its networking as well as newly-launched IP network cameras.    Till Q1 2012, the North region was the largest contributor to the Edimax business in terms of revenue and RD base, providing more than 40% share of its total business in India. It is followed by West at 35% and South at 25% shares of the pie. The East region is yet to be explored, but holds promise for additional numbers. To start off, Edimax has appointed Advance Infotech, to distribute its range of IP cameras in Mumbai and Maharashtra.
