SAP India initiates program for Informal Sector Women Workers
VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE SAP India has announced an initiative to empower informal sector women workers by enhancing their skills and employability potential. Creative Livelihood and Youth (CLAY), a programme jointly developed with NGO partner LEARN (Labour Education and Research Network) is believed to build capacities of domestic workers, home based workers, garment and embellishment workers. The program includes training in tailoring and fashion designing, marketing and basic accounting, housekeeping, spoken English and leadership development. LEARN is expected to identify women workers and their daughters for enrolment, as well as facilitate the entire training process, while SAP India claims to provide financial support and guidance for the programme. Project CLAY hopes to impact the lives of 10,000 beneficiaries in LEARN's Dharavi, Nasik and Solapur centres this year.
