As the year 2018 comes to a close, Reliance Jio has announced a ‘ Happy New Year 2019 Offer ’ for its customers on Friday. The new offer is somewhat similar to what the telco has offered in the past and Jio users will get to avail 100 percent cashback when they recharge their connection with the Rs 399 plan in the form of coupons that can be availed on e-commerce portal AJIO. “Jio in partnership with AJIO has introduced its Jio Happy New Year Offer . The offer provides 100 per cent cashback in form of AJIO coupon. Customers performing recharge of Rs 399 will get 100 per cent cashback in form of AJIO coupon. AIO coupon worth Rs 399 will be credited in ‘MyCoupons’ section of MyJio,” Jio said in a statement. GST (31st) Revision - Complete List of Goods and Services Tax Slabs : The GST Council on Saturday reviewed the tax slabs slashing rates on several items. Among the things set to get cheaper are and movie tickets. Announcing the slab rehab, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the government wanted to keep the GST rates close to the original rates. But there were differences in case of some items because of the changes in the economy as well as customer preferences. Some commodities were kept in the high tax bracket (18-28%) but on scrutinizing the list, they found that these commodities should be considered as necessities and not luxuries. This is why the GST rates were revised for commodities such as notebooks, exercise books, spectacles and lenses and some other items and the new GST rates will be effective from January 1, 2019. A major English daily on Monday reported that the Modi government have proposed to bring changes in IT rules and is hoping to amend the Section 79 of the IT Act, the one that deals with liabilities of intermediaries places of social media platforms like WhatsApp, so that it can force them to monitor "unlawful" content while following stricter due-diligence practices. Just before two days Ministry Home Affairs issued the controversial memo that authorized 10 agencies in the country to look into any computer or computing resources such as phones, there is a report that the NDA government is now working on modifying several IT Act rules that may again raise fear of mass surveillance.
