VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGE&T) has announced that a webportal has been developed for the effective implementation of Skill Development Scheme (SDIS) to promote training of around 6 lakh people in India annually. Hewlett Packard (HP) India has developed the portal. Mallikrjun Kharge, Union Minister of Employment & Training congratulated HP and DGET while dedicating this portal to the nation.DGE&T works closely with the State Governments and Vocational Training Providers (VTP) are engaged to provide professional training to unskilled and semi-skilled workforce in the country. The trained candidates are then assessed by empanelled Assessing Bodies (ABs) and certified ready for employment. Windows 8 OS to have three versions

VMware reports Q1 2012 Results

Revenues for the first quarter were $1.06 billion, Operating income was $217 million, Non-GAAP operating income was $344 million and Net income was $191 million, whereas Licence revenues for the first quarter of 2012 were $482 million, an increase of 15% from 2011. Service revenues, which include software maintenance and professional services, were $573 million for 2012, an increase of 35% from 2011. “The quarter’s solid performance across our portfolio underscores the value that VMware is providing customers as they work to transform their IT organizations,” said Paul Maritz, Chief Executive Officer, VMware. “VMware is well positioned for growth as the leader in virtualization and cloud infrastructure. Infotech announces Q4 FY12 Results

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Infotech has announced its Q4 and annual results-FY 2011-12. The revenue for the year is Rs.15,531 million, Y-o-Y growth of 30.7%. Y-o-Y growth in dollar terms is 24%. Operating profit is Rs.2,704 million, an increase of 50% Y-o-Y. Operating margin is at 17.4% for the year, an increase of 220 bps over last year. Whereas in Quarterly performance revenue for the quarter is Rs.4,173 million, Y-o-Y growth of 28%, Q-o-Q growth of 0.2% and Q-o-Q growth in dollar terms at 1.6%. The company sustained the improved Operating margin. During Q4, OPM (at 19.8%) further improved by 20 bps over Q3 in real terms, due to operational excellence initiatives. There was adverse exchange impact of 100 bps in Q4 compared to Q3. Symantec reveals its Data Breach Study

The benchmark study, conducted by Ponemon Institute in partnership with Symantec, found that data breaches have serious, quantifiable consequences. The average total cost of a breach to an organization was INR53.5 million (INR5.35 crore), with malicious breaches by hackers or criminal insiders being the most expensive type at INR4,224 for one compromised record. “The value of data has never been greater, especially with organizations rapidly adopting new technologies to provide access to business information anywhere, at any time. HCL Tech reports 28% rise in net profit

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE HCL Technologies Ltd. has reported a 28 per cent rise in quarterly net profit. Consolidated net profit for the fiscal third quarter ended March 31 rose to 6 billion Indian rupees ($116.4 million) from 4.68 billion rupees a year earlier. HCL follows a July-June fiscal year. Sales rose 26 per cent to 52.16 billion rupees.
