Government asked railway employees to convert ATM debit cards to Rupay cards:  The government has said over 12 lakh employees of   Indian Railways   have been advised to convert their existing debit or ATM cards to RuPay-based cards, a move aimed at giving fillip to the ' Aatmanirbhar Bharat ' campaign and the 'Digital India initiative'.   Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways  informed the Parliament that the railways was also facilitating promotion of the 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' campaign and the ' Digital India initiative '. Google has acquired Where Is My Train, a multilingual app that provides live updates on trains, offering offline integration of Indian Railways and IRCTC timetables, using cell-tower information to locate trains. The app also helps coustomers zero on trains with just the source and destination or even partial train name. The search giant has not disclosed the acquisition details. Where is My Train app was founded by Five former executives of TiVo Corporation, a technology entertainment company in US. The start up has a team of about 10 members and is based out of Bengaluru. In late August, Google was reportedly in talks to acquire the company for $30-40 million. Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi was also in the edge to invest in the Bengaluru-based startup. This is Google’s second acquisition on Indian turf. Last year, the firm had acquired another Bengaluru-based artificial intelligence startup Halli Labs. VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Indian Railways is all set to roll out its own e-ticketing service, which will have no room for travel agents and will be reserved for individual users. Travel agents in the IRCTC service have been accused of blocking tickets to sell them at a premium. Public resentment has also led the Railways to bar travel agents from booking tatkal tickets during peak hours on the IRCTC portal. Under the new railway e-ticketing service, individual customers would need to register themselves for the first time for availing the services. The registration will be free of charge. A maximum of eight transactions per user ID per month will be allowed in the beginning, the official said, adding the service charges levied will be Rs.5 per ticket for sleeper class and Rs.10 per ticket for all other classes.
