As per the report, Sharp Corporation of Japan to buy Toshiba Corp’s personal computer business for 4 billion yen ($36 million). Sharp brand is under the control of manufacturing giant Foxconn, the world’s biggest contract manufacturer and major Apple Inc supplier, to produce PCs more cheaply – just as it was able to do in TVs. President Donald Trump in an announcement has revealed that Apple is apparently planning to build three manufacturing plants in the US in a partnership with Foxconn or some other assembly company. Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook has supposedly promised the president "three big plants - big, big, big," Trump said in a recent news Interview. Apple however declined to comment on the matter. There has been no information on where the plants will be set up or what they will manufacture. But considering that Apple hands off its assembly responsibilities to third parties, and the fact that Foxconn may announce its plans to bring plants to the U.S. as early as this week, it's likely that Apple's plans are in partnership.... Chinese smartphone maker gionee will invest $50 million approximately 330 core over next 3 years to make handsets in india. Taking Narendra Modi’s Make in India announcement ahead, the company has partnered global manufacturers Foxconn and Dixon to begin India production. Gionee’s ‘Make In India’ will happen at the facilities of Dixon Technologies and Foxconn which are based at Delhi-NCR and Andhra Pradesh respectively. Foxconn will start this association by manufacturing F Series and P Series phones from the existing Gionee portfolio while Dixon will be making feature phones and other smartphones for Gionee in India. Both the partners will start production in October. Foxconn’s chairman has stated that the company is planning to set up 10-12 manufacturing facilities across India by 2020, which will create at least a million jobs. Terry Gou, Founder and Chairman of Foxconn told that the company will look to set up the manufacturing plants, initially in five states including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra, and expand to other states across the country within five years. The Apple iPhone makers, Foxconn Technology has gone for further meetings with the Indian government to set up an exclusive manufacturing plant for Apple iPhone. VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Foxconn Electronics has declared unconsolidated December revenues of NT$316.944 billion (US$11 billion), a 3.17% increase on month and 29.53% increase on year. Accumulated revenues for 2011 reached NT$2.77 trillion, a 19.89% increase compared to 2010. Foxconn has announced that the growth in revenues was due to increased demand of consumer electronics. PC and telecom business units have also been growing continuously. Industry sources believe high demand for Apple products such as iPhone and iPad helped to push Foxconn's December revenues to a new record. Subsidiary Foxconn Technology has reported December revenues of NT$14.499 billion, a slight 8.24% decrease compared to November. According to market buzz, the expansion plan, costing 7 billion yuan ($1.1 billion) is expected to bring $20 billion in sales revenue in 2012. The base is said to be centered on the Foxconn Science Park in Zhengzhou, increasing its current production lines to 95, sources claimed. VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Foxconn Electronics has announced non-consolidated revenues of NT$665.66 billion (US$22.27 billion) for the third quarter of 2011, up 5% sequentially. Gross margin also rose from 3.2% in the second quarter to 3.5%. Although the company's third-quarter consolidated results have not yet been announced, based on its non-consolidated profitability, Foxconn's consolidated gross margin in the third quarter should have performed better than the 7.3% in the second. Foxconn pointed out that revenue growth in the third quarter was mainly due to its strategy of shifting production into inland China as well as increasing production efficiency.As for the fourth quarter, although the visibility of the IT market status is still short, as Foxconn will gradually finish its production migration to inland China, it should allow the company to perform better in terms of management efficiency and client services.
