RSA released its Findings

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE RSA, The Security Division of EMC has released the findings of its October Fraud Report which estimated that the worldwide losses from phishing attacks alone amounted to over $520 million during H1 2011. The month of October which was coined the Cyber Security Awareness Month, by several US-based government bodies and used as a platform to increase security-literacy across the tiers that make up the digital society, also did not help deter phishers. Sometimes viewed as one of the oldest scams in the book, phishing is still a very popular method among cybercriminals. The report also pegs the losses incurred from phishing attacks during the 12-month period of H2 2010 through H1 2011 at nearly $1 billion. NEC announces Completion of Integrated Ocean Observation System for Taiwan

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE NEC has announced the completion of its first submarine-cable based integrated ocean observation system for the Central Weather Bureau of Taiwan. The system has been deployed in the sea off of eastern coast of Taiwan in order to strengthen seismic and environmental observations in the area. NEC won this construction project in September 2009. The system was installed from Toucheng, on the eastern coast of Taiwan, and extends offshore through 45 kilometers of submarine cable. The tip of the cable is equipped with a node that features a broadband seismograph, acceleration seismograph, tsunami pressure gauge, conductivity temperature and depth-sensor and underwater microphone. As part of an integrated ocean observation system, the node is also able to collect information on earthquakes and tsunami, in addition to integrated ocean environment observation. The Company has reported a rise of 71.2 % (YoY) in its H1 consolidated net profit after tax. Its consolidated net profit increased to Rs 15.03 crore against Rs 8.78 crore in the corresponding 1st half in the last fiscal year. EPS increased by 61 % from Rs. 4.64 per share to Rs. 7.49 per share for the 1st half of the current financial year. The consolidated revenues of the company for H1 have also climbed up by 52.6 % to Rs 192.9 crore. It had registered total revenues of Rs 126.4 crores in the corresponding half year in the last financial year. The second quarter numbers have also seen a big jump, with consolidated PAT for Q2 increasing to Rs. 9.5 cr from Rs. 5.8cr, an increase of 65.1% YoY.
