Google beats Apple to become World's top brand

After three years at the top, Apple slipped to No 2 on the back of a 20% decline in brand value, to $148 billion. India's Hardcopy Peripherals Market grows sequentially–IDC

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   The  India Hardcopy Peripherals (HCP) market  is reviving as seen in 2014 Q1, despite the slowdown in the consumer segment. The growth was primarily driven by the Government’s procurement and supported by the Medium and Large Enterprises in India. According to the  International Data Corporation (IDC) , the HCP market in India grew 1.5% sequentially in 2014 Q1 and reached 801,000 units in terms of shipments. This was largely driven by the Government’s buying in the Laser segment, which recorded a significant sequential growth of 12.8%. But, on the other hand, Inkjet segment performed weakly due to low consumer demand across all price band segments, resulting in a marginal growth of 1.5%. Cisco Chief Chambers urges Obama to rein in NSA snooping

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   Cisco Systems' chief executive officer and chairman  John Chambers   has written a letter to  US President Barack Obama urging him to curtail  National Security Agency's (NSA) surveillance  activities after evidence circulated showing the NSA had intercepted the networking equipment giant. According to Chambers, it will have a dire effect on the global economy. In the letter, he warned of warned of an undermining of confidence in the US technology industry and called for new "standards of conduct" in how the NSA conducts its surveillance.
