Symantec Corp.'s 2011 Small Business Virtualisation Poll

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Symantec Corp. has announced the findings of its 2011 Small Business Virtualisation Poll which examined the adoption of virtualisation within small businesses and its impact on their organisations. According to the survey, small businesses have a strong interest in virtualisation, but are still learning how to adopt it in their organisations. As they implement server virtualisation, small businesses are putting their data at risk. The survey found that most small businesses aren't taking the most basic steps to secure and protect their virtual environments. The survey is based on 658 respondents in 28 countries worldwide, of which 306 were from the Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) region. NASC to roll cards with LCD display

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE NagraID Arrow Secure Card (NASC) is to introduce credit and debit cards equipped with a LCD display to show a one-time password (OTP) for secure online transactions. Neeraj Malhotra, VP, NASC said, "The OTP will be displayed by the card for online transactions. Such cards are equipped with a high contrast, ultra-fast LCD flexible display that enables scrolling of characters. The password is generated as and when customers want to carry out a transaction by pressing a button on the credit card or the debit card. Each time one has to do a transaction, a unique password is provided. It is a more secure way of making online payments and reducing card-related fraud. LG targets fivefold increase in its market share

The Company aims to become the top seller of 3D televisions next year, it claimed. Lee Kwan Sup, Head of marketing, LG's home entertainment unit said, "The Company will probably reach 20 per cent of the market for the devices by the end of 2011, up from 4 per cent at the beginning of the year." According to market buzz, The Company is pushing 3D to revive falling demand in major markets. TV shipment is believed to decline through 2015 in Western Europe and Japan and stagnate in the US. "The market will total about 200 million TVs this year, with 3D accounting for some 10 per cent, from 1 per cent last year. Synopsys acquires nSys Design Systems

Synopsys is increasing its investment in VIP technology to address the growing verification challenges designers face as they create more and more complex systems on chips (SoCs) to serve the demand for 'smart' electronics with this acquisition. The terms of the deal have not been disclosed. VIP provides functional models of on- and off-chip protocols that verification engineers use to test all of the interfaces on a SoC before manufacturing.
