Microsoft's Windows XP support cut-off to put ATMs at Security Risk

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   With  Microsoft(NASDAQ:MSFT)  all set to end support on  8 April for the thirteen-year-old operating system Windows XP , the company has issued a warning to loyal Windows XP users  to get ready to deal with the potential cyber attacks targeting their systems after the official end of the support. In India as most of the ATMs (automated teller machines) are yet to migrate to the later versions they may face the array of security issues which will be accompanied by the end of support for XP. In a blog post, Tim Rains, Microsoft Trustworthy Computing Group (TwC) director, advised businesses not to use XP. Failing to do so will put them and their customers at increased risk. Kaspersky to extend support for Windows XP till 2016

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   As per a recent update,  Kaspersky Lab  has revealed to its customers that although Microsoft Corporation will end support for the Windows XP SP3 operating system in April 2014, Kaspersky Lab‘s corporate protection solution  Kaspersky Endpoint Security 10 for Windows and consumer protection solutions Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2013 and Kaspersky Internet Security 2013 will continue to support the Microsoft Windows XP operating system (Service Pack 3 only) until the second quarter of 2016,  in accordance with Kaspersky Lab product lifecycles. Kaspersky Lab also plans to maintain support for the operating system in at least two future generations of Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Kaspersky Internet Security products.
