Ericsson to power Brazil with 5G

As part of enabling Brazil’s digital agenda, Ericsson has announced that it would support Brazil in the realization of its digital agenda. Ericsson together with America Movil will bring the first 5G test system to Brazil during 2016. Hans Vestberg, President & CEO, Ericsson, said, “ICT can support the transformation of virtually all sectors of society as well as all industries. I am convinced the next generation of mobile broadband and the Internet of Things, enabled by 5G, will further accelerate the opportunities to advance in areas such as health care, education, energy services and agriculture, and within new industry applications.” Read more

Ericsson signs pact with LG Uplus over 5G and IoT

To collaborate on the development of 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies, Ericsson and LG Uplus have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The agreement will initially run until 2020. Ulf Ewaldsson, Chief Technology Officer, Ericsson, said, “By enabling essentially unlimited access to information anywhere and anytime, 5G can deliver enormous benefits to people, business and society. Realizing this transformative vision requires a strong industry ecosystem, and we are delighted to partner with LG Uplus to lead the development .” Read more

Ericsson with Bharti Airtel to expand 3G and roll out 4G Networks in India

Bharti Airtel and Ericsson have inked a deal over rollout of 4G (LTE-FDD) network in Delhi. The two companies have also signed an agreement to expand 3G WCDMA network across eight telecom circles in India. Both the agreements are for four years. Ericsson will enable Bharti Airtel to meet growing customer demand for mobile broadband services while delivering superior network performance. On 4G, Airtel subscribers will be able to enjoy an improved smartphone experience, with faster web browsing, downloads, video on demand, and many other services. Paolo Colella becomes Ericsson’s India Head

Ericsson has appointed Paolo Colella as new Head of Region India.  In this new role, Paolo will also take a seat on Ericsson’s Global Leadership Team, reporting to the Chairman of Region India and Senior Vice-President Asia-Pacific, Mats H Olsson. Paolo succeeds Chris Houghton who will assume the role as Head of Region North-East Asia. President & CEO Hans Vestberg said, “Chris has successfully managed Ericsson’s operations in India during his two-year stint in the country and enabled the India operations to grow into the largest employee base for Ericsson in the world.
