The new 5000iP Series supports full packet networking for long-distance communications of up to 50 kilometres between metropolitan and mountainous areas where it is difficult to lay optical cable. The new systems strengthens trunk networks with LTE and 4G communications, and they support full packet, high capacity communications that reach 1.6 times (4Gbps) higher than existing 5000S products. In order to expand and modernize MTS' communications systems, NEC will deliver 15,000 iPASOLINK transmitters to MTS in 2011. iPASOLINK is to allow MTS to increase the bandwidth capability of channels and the total capacity networks on internal communication lines. New iPASOLINK equipment is being installed in all of MTS' service regions, which will facilitate their transition to fully functional IP-based networks.
