Collegesinup.com launched

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Banyan Tree Infomedia has launched its latest site Collegesinup.com, a site that has been aimed at providing information about all the colleges that students, wanting to study in Uttar Pradesh, can join. In its most basic sense the site is a directory that has a collection of colleges in UP along with universities that they may be affiliated to. "Father" of Bluetooth Technology nominated

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Dr. Jaap Haartsen, Former Ericsson Employee and credited as the “Father” of Bluetooth technology, was nominated for the European Inventor Award 2012 in the Industry category this year. Haartsen invented Bluetooth and developed it with his partner Sven Mattisson in 1994, when both men were working at Ericsson in Sweden. Since Bluetooth was designed to unify standards, Haartsen and Mattison named it after King Harald “Bluetooth” Gormsson, who united three Danish tribes into one Danish Kingdom. The king was called Bluetooth because he liked blueberries so much he had blue teeth. The Bluetooth logo also stems from King Harald Bluetooth with the long-branch Nordic runes for “H” and “B” comprising the design we see in the blue oval of the logo. EMC strengthens its Management Team

Browser for iPad to be launched

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Mozilla is believed to introduce a browser called Junior for iPad. It is claimed to be a full screen experience without any tabs or search bars. The simplified UI of Junior consists of two buttons placed about a third the way up the iPad’s screen. The one on the left acts as a back button, while the one on the right is a plus button that presents users with a list of recent pages, as well as a search screen. Each of the main two buttons can be expanded to reveal a total of six operations on which the development team is working on. Apart from this, Junior will also have the ability to create separate user accounts. In terms of security, users will be able to password protect their account which will ensure that their web history is blocked off from other users on the same device. Seagate and LaCie announce Acquisition

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   Seagate Technology and LaCie have announced that Seagate, Philippe Spruch, LaCie’s Chairman & CEO, and his affiliate, have entered into a binding share purchase agreement to purchase all of the shares of Philippe Spruch and his affiliate, representing 64.5% of the shares of LaCie for a provisional price of €4.05 per share. As previously announced, Ricol Lasteyrie & Associés has been appointed as an independent expert by the Board of Directors of LaCie on June 23, 2012. The transaction has already received clearance from the US Antitrust Authorities, but remains subject to regulatory approval in France and Germany (antitrust filing) and to other customary closing conditions. Kaspersky Lab reveals its Research

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   The research conducted by Kaspersky Lab experts on the discovery of the Flame malware in May 2012 has revealed that the most complex cyberweapon to date. At the time of its discovery, there was no strong evidence of Flame being developed by the same team that delivered Stuxnet and Duqu. The earliest known version of Stuxnet, contains a special module known as “Resource 207”. In the subsequent 2010 version of Stuxnet, this module was completely removed. The "Resource 207" module is an encrypted DLL file and it contains an executable file that's the size of 351,768 bytes with the name "atmpsvcn.ocx". This particular file, as it is now revealed by Kaspersky Lab's investigation, has a lot in common with the code used in Flame. The list of striking resemblances includes the names of mutually exclusive objects, the algorithm used to decrypt strings, and the similar approaches to file naming. Alexander
