Celkon opens its manufacturing plant in India

Taking a step forward to “Make-in-India” initiative, Celkon has opened its manufacturing facility in Telangana’s Medchal industrial estate. Celkon has announced that it will be investing around Rs.200 crore in the next three months for this facility. celkon mobiles logo Celkon opens its manufacturing plant in IndiaStarting with four production lines with a capacity to manufacture 2 lakh handsets per month, the facility will eventually be increased to 12 production lines, which are expected to produce 5 lakh handsets a month. However, the company aims to reach a capacity of producing 10 lakh handsets a month in India. The consumers of Celkon will receive a 7–8% cost benefits on the handsets initially, with the production happening in India. In a statement, the company said that sixty per cent of the handsets manufactured in the factory will be feature phones, while the rest will be entry-level and mid-level smartphones. Celkon in the forefront in ‘Make in India’ initiative, Launches handset manufacturing unit

In a bid to contribute to a major initiative towards the country, Celkon has declared that it is all set to launch its state-of-the–art manufacturing facility, which will come up in Medchal over the next week. The inauguration of the unit is expected to be done by Minister for IT KT Rama Rao (KTR).  Speaking on the unit set up, the Chairman and Managing Director, Celkon Mobiles, Y. Guru stated, “We are very pleased to be one of the first companies to unveil our plans in setting up the manufacturing unit, this unit will greatly boost our ability to meet the demand for our game changing products as well as contribute to the overall ‘Make in India’ revolution promoted by the government of India.” See more

CELKON to set up Rs 100-Crore Handset Assembly Unit

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE CELKON Mobiles, an Indian mobile handset brand, will set up a Rs.100-crore mobile assembly unit in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu or Karnataka in 2011 with a capacity to produce 36 lakh pieces annually. It also lined up an Android phone to mark its entry into the smartphone segment. Y. Guru, Managing Director, CELKON, said that they will pool up funds internally and from banks to set up the facility and that they are in talks with the local governments in this regard. In about 12 months, the company sold 10 lakh units, mostly in Andhra Pradesh and registered a turnover of Rs.150 crore. "We have entered into a tie-up with the US-based Bright Point to distribute our handsets in North India," he said. Addressing a press conference, he said the company would initially sell the products in States like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi and Uttarakhand.
