Vodafone Report states Mobile to enhance lives of Indian Farmers

Vodafone has published its Connected Farming in India report which concludes that the introduction of simple mobile services designed to help small-scale farmers in emerging markets could boost the farm gate incomes of 7 crore Indian farmers by over Rs. 56,000 crore in 2020. The Vodafone report, based on research commissioned from Accenture Strategy with support from the Vodafone Foundation, has found that the average farming household lives on less than Rs.250 per day with many farmers struggling to feed and educate their families. Simple mobile services could enhance earnings of almost two-thirds of such farmers by an average of Rs.8,000/- per year, creating a positive impact in communities. Array Networks has bagged a defence order worth $250,000 for WAN Optimization and Access Gateways (SSL VPN) solutions. The project involves improving the network performance in remote locations, securing critical operational data and enabling VSAT deployments. Array Networks has constituted a focussed team and will be working very closely with partners and technical establishments specializing in the defence sector to provide the best technology available. The company aims to derive at least 25% of their revenues from this sector in the near future. 20 Million Indian SMEs will be Online by 2017-Google

Cementing its commitment to help SMEs go digital in India, Google India has announced the launch of a nationwide initiative to help small medium businesses to go digital and get online presence on Google search and Google maps, without having to invest in a website or domain. As part of this new initiative, Google India will get 20 million SMEs online by 2017 by using a simple mobile-based app called, “Google My Business”, that will help businesses to create and manage their business information across Google products for free in both Hindi and English. 13th VARINDIA IT Forum-A Success Story Retold
