Google acquires Motorola Mobility @ $12.5 bn

Motorola stated its shareholders will get $40 a share in cash, which is 63 per cent more than Motorola Mobility's closing price on the New York Stock Exchange on Aug. 12. The deal will give the company access to Motorola's more than 17,000 patents related to wireless technology.
