Lebanon Online deploys Blue Coat CacheFlow 5000 Appliance

Blue Coat Systems has announced that Internet service provider (ISP) Lebanon Online S.A.R.L. has deployed the Blue Coat CacheFlow 5000 appliance. The newly installed platform enables Lebanon Online to reduce operational expenses by cutting bandwidth spend, manage sizeable increases in network traffic and subscriber growth, enhance Web security and optimize and enhance the delivery of rich Web 2.0 content, large files and video.

"The CacheFlow 5000 appliance builds on our expertise in delivering Web content and applications effectively and securely. It represents a significant leap forward in addressing the bandwidth challenges facing service providers. Our breakthrough caching technology addresses the monumental challenges service providers face in meeting fiercely growing demand for video and Web 2.0 content from mobile and fixed users," Darrell Long, GM & VP, CacheFlow Business Unit, Blue Coat Systems said.

Lebanon Online is also formulating a value-added services strategy where it can provide additional, potentially chargeable services to its customers, including parental controls and a 'clean Internet' security service to further leverage the capabilities of Blue Coat solutions.

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery.
