HP acquires Information Management Software for $10.3 billion

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Hewlett Packard has acquired Autonomy Corp., a developer of information management and infrastructure software for $10.3 billion. HP and Autonomy directors have both approved the deal, which requires shareholder approval. HP said it expects to close the deal by the end of calendar 2011. Autonomy's product portfolio has made it a major player in the market for cloud-based data management services. The company reported sales of $870 million for fiscal 2010 ended Dec. 31, up by 18 percent from $740 million in fiscal 2009. Schneider gets solar deal

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Schneider Electric India has got orders worth Rs. 110 crore to supply turnkey power and automation solution for three photovoltaic (PV) solar power plants in India. According to market buzz, all three PV solar power plants have a combined capacity of 22.3 megawatts (MWp).The orders comprise of two 5MWp PV solar power plants and one 12.3MWp PV solar power plant. On completion by the end of December this year, these plants will have an annual generating capacity of up to 35Gigawatt-hours of electricity, the company claimed. Schneider Electric India is said to be responsible for the design, engineering, manufacturing, installation commissioning of the plants and will deliver the turnkey electrical and control solution. The weather update is visible through a widget in the upper right corner of Google Maps. Clicking on the weather icon for a particular city opens a window with data such as current humidity and wind conditions, as well as a forecast for the next four days. Users can also click on the left-hand panel to change the units for measurement of wind speed and temperature and enable or disable the viewing of clouds when zoomed out from the map. Infosys intros InfyRadio for staff

InfyRadio is currently running as an experiment in Bangalore, will be launched on other Infosys campuses in the next three months. The radio service is to run for six hours a day, five days a week and will be a combination of music (Hindi/English), RJ Talk, Infosys-related communication, leadership interviews, song requests as well as interactive contests. The initiative is to involve employees and some celebrity guests in the running of this station, claimed HR sources. There is a special Web site for the radio station, where employees can request songs, participate in contests, download the InfyRadio jingle as well as provide feedback about the shows. Brocade reports Q3 FY2011 Results

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Brocade has reported financial results for its third fiscal quarter ended July 30, 2011. Brocade reported quarterly revenue of $503 million, representing flat revenue performance year-over-year and resulting in breakeven diluted earnings per share (EPS) on a GAAP basis and $0.09 on a non-GAAP basis. The Company's reported third quarter revenue and non-GAAP EPS results are consistent with the anticipated ranges it provided on August 5, 2011. Revenue for Brocade's Storage business, including product and services was $334.3 million in the third quarter, down 6% year-over-year. Whereas, revenue for Brocade's Ethernet business was $168.5 million in the third quarter, an increase of 13% year-over-year. The Federal Ethernet business was down 33% year-over-year, but up 32% sequentially, as Federal spending improved in the third quarter.
