SMBs to adopt Server Virtualization soon

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   According to a recent survey conducted by Acronis, small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) around the world are planning to adopt server virtualization in 2012 at a faster pace than large enterprises. However, the survey also identified widespread backup and disaster recovery shortcomings for virtual servers amongst SMBs.  IT managers at 6,000 SMBs in 18 countries were surveyed for the Acronis Global Disaster Recovery Index 2012. They predict that 29% of their servers will be virtualized by the end of the year, a growth rate of 21%. This is 50% higher than the pace identified in a recent Gartner report that predicted virtualization adoption by enterprises is to increase by 14% over the same period. Alex Pinchev to Join Acronis as President and CEO

Acronis Survey warns several consequences for Virtualization and Cloud

The survey of over 3,000 small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) conducted by the Ponemon Institute revealed that while attitudes towards backup and recovery differ widely around the world, businesses everywhere want a single backup and recovery solution for physical, virtual and cloud environments. The vast majority (68%) of IT managers agree that their greatest challenge in a hybrid environment is moving data between the three environments, yet the average business currently uses at least two or three separate backup solutions, making disaster recovery (DR) more complicated.
