Samsung Galaxy S III sales expected to top

Samsung launched its Galaxy S III on May 29 in Europe and is now expanding global roll-outs. The phone is said to feature a 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It has an 8 megapixel rear camera with flash and zero shutter lag and a 1.9 megapixel front camera. The Samsung Galaxy S III runs Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, operating system. ICANN gets new Chief Executive

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   The organisation that oversees Internet domain names has appointed a new Chief Executive, who will have to take on some of the major challenges facing the non-profit body, including controversy over expansion of its services. Fadi Chehade will start his new job at ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) in October. Chehade said, “I would pursue consensus-building among all the stakeholders involved in affairs affecting the internet. Real-time Train running Information System

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE A joint team of Railways and IIT-Kanpur has developed - the real-time train running information system - a technology which is said to enable a mobile user to access information about the exact location of a train.   Railway Ministry Official shared, "One has to type the train number and SMS it to 09415139139 or 09664139139 for knowing the exact location of a train on real-time basis. The service is currently available for 36 pairs of premier trains, including Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto. Not all premier trains are covered yet. Some of the trains covered under the project included Mumbai Rajdhani, Howrah Rajdhani, Dibrugarh Rajdhani, Sealdah Duronto and Shatabdi trains for Bhopal, Kanpur and Amritsar. The facility would be extended to all major trains in the next 18 months and the railways has allocated Rs 121 crore for the project." ON Semiconductor rolls out PLC Modem SoC

The first device in a new family of PLC modems, the NCN49597 combines a low- power 32-bit ARM Cortex M0 processor with a high-precision analogue front-end and is based on a dual 4800-baud S-FSK (Spread Frequency Shift Keying) channel technology.  The NCN49597 is fully compliant with the IEC61334-5-1 standard and supports customized implementation of the building automation standard. Corsair unveils 4G SSDs

Kaspersky Lab uncovers Malicious Android Applications

The malware is linked to the infamous Zeus Trojan, a common tool used in the theft of banking credentials. The phony security applications were first observed earlier this month, and newer versions have continued to appear, according to Kaspersky. "On the 4th of June, 2012, we found 3 APK files of ~207 kb in size each heuristically detected by our engine as HEUR:Trojan-Spy.AndroidOS.Zitmo.a. All these applications are malicious and were created to steal incoming SMS messages from infected devices. SMS messages will be uploaded to a remote server whose URL is encrypted and stored inside the body of the Trojan," blogged Denis Maslennikov, Researcher, Kaspersky.
