Urban tele-density in India grew to 154.01%,whereas rural tele-density to 51.37%

In a recent report released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) ,The total telephone subscriber base in the country rose marginally in March to 105.88 cr. on the back of growth in wireless as well as wireline users. The overall user base stood at 105.18 cr. at the end of February.The wireless subscriber base increased by 0.68% to 103.36 crore at the end of March, from 102.66 crore last month. As for the wireline, the subscriber base arrested its decline and rose marginally to 2.522 crore at the end of March, from 2.521 crore in February. The overall tele-density in the country went up to 83.36% at the end of March, from 82.89% last month. The urban tele-density grew to 154.01% and rural tele-density to 51.37%. In the wireless space, private access service providers held 91.30% market share whereas BSNL and MTNL accounted for only 8.70%.In wire line though, the two state-run companies enjoy a market share of 72.42% while private operators’ stood at 27.58%

New Intel Initiatives to accelerate Digital India growth

Supporting Digital India programme, Intel India has announced a series of new initiatives. The announcement includes three projects designed to accelerate digital literacy  at the grassroots level by reaching out to the population in non-urban India, upskill citizens in the tier-II cities and beyond, and encourage innovation from the local level. Additionally, as a part of the recently launched “ Ek Kadam Unnati Ki Aur ” initiative, Intel has also inaugurated “Unnati Kendra at Common Service Centre” ( UK at CSC ) in Haryana to accelerate access to technology in non-urban India.
