DoT probes Tech Mahindra to set up Testing Lab

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE To free the network gear from bugs and malicious software and also to address the government’s security concerns, Tech Mahindra has been asked by the Department of Telecom (DoT) to set up a $100-million (Rs.550-crore) test lab. Senior officials of the DoT recently visited Tech Mahindra's telecom devices testing lab in Noida, which is managed by its wholly-owned arm CanvasM.  The Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore, which was originally tasked with the job of setting it up by DoT, has not executed it on time. That is why DoT now has to extend the April 1, 2013, deadline for mobile operators who were mandated to use telecom gear tested by an authorized lab in India. Arista unveils Extensions in EOS Software

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE To link the company’s products into cloud services arrangement and flow management solutions, Arista Networks has unveiled software-defined networking (SDN) extensions to its data center switch operating system. The new release of Arista's EOS software, include APIs for integration with orchestration, provisioning tools and customer applications. Among the APIs are an enhanced OpenStack Quantum plug-in, OpenFlow 1.0 support and enhanced data plane programmability for OpenFlow. According to Arista Networks, the extensions in EOS are designed to speed up provisioning of cloud services and IT workflows from weeks to seconds. These extensions will enable data plane manipulation of flow tables in Arista switches for programmatic control of network path selection. Nokia's Shivakumar steps down

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   As per the latest information, Nokia’s D Shivakumar, who is serving the company as Operations Head for India, West Asia and Africa, has resigned from his post. Shivakumar spend almost 8 years with the Finnish handset maker.  Presently, he is based in Dubai, and oversees Nokia’s operations in about 90 countries. Now, he is planning to come back to India after the June quarter. Shivkumar said, "When I joined Nokia, India had about 80 million mobile phone subscribers. Today, there are over 900 million.
