Xiaomi plans to invest in Indian start-ups

Xiaomi, which is preparing to set up its R&D and manufacturing facilities in India is looking for technology start-ups into software and hardware to buy stakes and partnerships for their future ventures in India, said company’s country head Manu Kumar Jain. In a statement given to media, he informed that the company would be investing more than $100 million in start-ups over the next few years, adding that the size of investment in each technology start-up varies from its size and requirement. According to his statement, they would prefer start-ups in mobile Internet technology or something around connected devices. Ideally, there should be possibility of the company working together and there should be some synergy. Focus on multiple issues including R&D and manufacturing facilities, expansion of service network and e-commerce infrastructure through warehouses and logistics were delaying the company’s investment plans in technology startups, he said... Foxconn to build plants to increase employment by 2020

Foxconn’s chairman has stated that the company is planning to set up 10-12 manufacturing facilities across India by 2020, which will create at least a million jobs. Terry Gou, Founder and Chairman of Foxconn told that the company will look to set up the manufacturing plants, initially in five states including Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Maharashtra, and expand to other states across the country within five years.
