Optiemus and Wistron to invest US$200 Million in India

To boost “Make-in-India” initiative, Optiemus Infracom and Wistron Corporation, Taiwan’s leading Original Design Manufacturer (ODM), have come up with a joint venture (JV) agreement, in the presence of Amitabh Kant, IAS, Secretary, DIPP, Government of India, to set up manufacturing facilities for telecom products in India. The partnership aims to provide a complete end-to-end solution to global and Indian brands, encompassing manufacturing infrastructure, distribution, retail and after-sales. Ratan Tata funds big data firm Crayon Data

Industry veteran Ratan Tata has funded a Singapore-based big data start-up company Crayon Data. The amount of the fund is not still disclosed. This personal investment from Ratan Tata comes three months after he joined as a senior adviser to Jungle Ventures, the Singapore-based VC which has invested in Crayon. After his retirement, he has become an influential investor in start-ups. He has invested his money in different sectors like Ola, Cardekho, Paytm, healthcare platform Lybrate, lingerie etailer Zivame and women’s clothing brand Kaaryah. Crayon was co-founded in 2012 by IIM Calcutta graduates Sastri and Suresh Shankar. It has already raised $10 million in funding from Singapore-based Jungle Ventures and Spring Seeds so far.
