CenturyLink and Orchestrate partner to improve Cloud platform

CenturyLink has joined hands with Orchestrate to enhance its cloud platform with new Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) capabilities. It is a provider of managed database service for application development. In this partnership, CenturyLink will add Orchestrate’s data services team to its product development and technology organization. It enables CenturyLink to address the demand of its enterprise customers to meet the performance, scalability and agile development needs of large-scale big data analytics. Google unveils Wireless Project Fi in US

Google has introduced its new US wireless service project “Fi”. It is a first project in the wireless industry, which will work only on the company’s Nexus 6 phones. It switches between Wi-Fi and cellular networks to curb data rules and keep the phone bills low. It will cost $20 a month plus $10 per gigabyte of data used and user will get money back of unused data. Google’s service could pressure wireless providers to further lower prices and better adapt to the rise of tablets and wearable devices. Manipal University and Tata Power Solar introduce SERVe

Tata Power Solar and Manipal Institute of Technology have rolled out SERVe (Solar Electric Road Vehicle). It is the first time when a university is exploring commercial viability of a solar-powered vehicle. It has been designed by 27 students of the solar mobile team with the aim for commercial usage. The vehicle is custom-fit with bespoke solar panels designed by Tata Power Solar. SERVe is the perfect showcase of an industry academia effort which helps in increasing the role of solar innovation in green mobility. Its objective is proliferation of eco-vehicles. It is a four-wheeled prototype which runs solely on solar energy. Weighing 590 kgs, this two-seater solar car can reach up to 60 kmph with a cruising speed of 30 kmph. Dr P. UST Global will help Madhya Pradesh Government to digitize its 377 urban local bodies. The company has inked a deal of 7 years with the MP Government, worth $30 million. As part of the deal, UST Global will help these bodies provide facilities such as electronic bill payments and online filing of grievances to its citizens.
