Dell India eyes on Mid-Size Markets

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   Dell India has announced that the company will focus on mid-size markets for storage, servers and solutions business and growth rate for such businesses will be faster than that of personal computers. The company has claimed that the Mix of solutions (servers, storage and services) increased by four-five per cent last year and sales would continue to grow at a higher level in future. However, revenue wise, PC business would remain the largest and Dell India would focus on revenues. Unlike other companies, it would not look at volume growth, but revenue growth. Microsoft forays into Tablet market

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   Microsoft has unveiled Surface, a tablet computer to compete with Apple’s iPad.  CEO Steve Ballmer has introduced the tablet, calling it part of a “whole new family of devices”. The device comes with a kickstand to hold it upright and a touch keyboard cover that snaps on using magnets. Steven Sinofsky, President, Windows division, Microsoft said, “The device is a “tablet that’s a great PC, PC that’s a great tablet.” The Company has claimed that it will work on Microsoft’s upcoming Windows 8 Pro operating system. The pro version comes with a stylus that allows users to make handwritten notes on documents such as PDF files. Each tablet comes with a keyboard cover that is just 3 millimetres thick.
