KPIT deploys Lync 2010 and Exchange 2010 
KPIT Cummins has adopted Lync 2010 and Exchange 2010 for better collaboration among employees. This will lead to reduction of travel and communication cost by 15% and 35% annually, respectively. 
KPIT Cummins integrated Microsoft Lync (Instant messenger, Live meeting, Group Chat), MS Exchange 2010, Outlook 2010 and IP Telephony running on CISCO Call Manager so that users can see presence and interact using single interface. KPIT employees can call from anywhere using their IM, take part in the Live meeting from anywhere using their laptop. With the federation services enabled, KPIT employees can interact with customers having Microsoft Lync and also do Instant Messaging with other third-party messengers using the same Lync client. 
Mandar Marulkar, Head - IT infrastructure, KPIT Cummins, said, "For the future expansion plans of the company, we recognized that there was a need for a high-quality experience for communications and collaboration. After the adoption of Lync 2010 and Exchange 2010, our employees started using Lync for overseas calls leading to a heavy reduction in the communication and travel expenses."

DoT Secretary hints at making Draft NTP 2018 available in public domain soon

“A draft National Telecom Policy 2018 that is liberal and non-prescriptive in its licensing approach in Machine to Machine (M2M) communication is being given final touches. The policy should be in the public domain in the next two to three weeks for discussion and responses from stakeholders,” said Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Department of Telecom, Ministry of Communications. Aruna Sundararajan said, “M2M is the next big opportunity for India in terms of its impact and the quantum change that it will bring about in the quality of services and delivery.
