IBM creates Services Innovation Lab

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE IBM has unveiled the creation of the Services Innovation Lab (SIL), a new global lab that will initially comprise about 200 technology experts hand-picked from around the company. The lab will accelerate the expansion of real-time analytics and software automation in both IBM's technology services offerings and its global services delivery capabilities. The SIL will operate out of IBM Research’s Labs worldwide, including New York, California, China, Israel, India, Japan, Switzerland and Brazil. Ocean Optics unveils Photo Video Challenge 2011

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Ocean Optics has opened the submissions period for its second annual Photo and Video Challenge (www.oceanphotochallenge.com) for users of the company's equipment and systems. The challenge is open to all owners of Ocean Optics spectrometers and systems - customers, distributors and business partners are all eligible. The submission period runs through November 15, 2011. Winning entries, chosen for their innovation, entertainment and educational value, will be announced December 1, 2011. Cash prizes will be awarded for best overall photograph (US$2,000) and best overall video (US$3,500). NASSCOM: TCS is the largest recruiter

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Nasscom announced the annual rankings of top 20 IT-BPO employers in India for 2010-11. The rankings reveal a surge in hiring, with almost one third of the industry aiming to grow by 25 per cent, and a little over two-third of the industry planning to increase their employee base by 10 per cent in the coming year. The total percentage of women hiring reached more than 40 per cent in the last three years. Tata Consultancy Services has emerged as the largest recruiter over the last year, followed by Infosys and Wipro Technologies. However, the cost of hiring has declined over the last three years for almost half of the industry, as a result of increased referrals, campus placements and internal job postings. Hiring from tier-III cities has also increased over the last year. The latest survey findings reveal that 90 per cent reported an increase in employee referrals; 75 per cent reported increase in campus hiring and internal job postings. Offer

The Group reports growth in published revenues (i.e. at current Group structure and exchange rates) in the first half of 2010 of 12.9%. Like-for-like growth (i.e. at constant Group structure and exchange rates) is 7.4% (6.4% in the first quarter and 8.4% in the second quarter). Bookings in the first half of the year totalled euro5,205 million, roughly in line with the first half of 2010 (euro5,368 million) which was marked by the renewal or extension of several major outsourcing contracts. For the businesses most sensitive to the economic environment (Consulting Services, Technology Services and Local Professional Services), the book-to-bill ratio was 1.18 (1.27 for North America alone). BESU ties up with Metallurgic Systems
