Infosys looks to triple China revenues; to invest $100 m

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Infosys, which has announced $100 million investment in China, is aiming to triple revenues from the country from the current $80 million -in about three years. Currently, Infosys has 3,300 people working for it in China of whom only 150 are Indians and most of the rest, Chinese. Infosys entered China in 2004 and has so far invested $25 million. "But the number will go up fast. The headcount in China would go up to 10,000 over the next 2-3 years. The company is building a campus in Shanghai. The $100 million would be spent (mostly on the campus) over the next 2-3 years. RIM cutting 2,000 jobs

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Research In Motion plans to cut about 11 percent of its workforce as it struggles to keep pace with Apple and Google in the mobile market it once dominated. The Canadian company's shares sunk 3 percent after the announcement of 2,000 job cuts; a month after RIM said would reduce headcount for the first time in almost a decade. The company, which described the cost reduction as "a prudent and necessary step" for its long-term success, said it would inform employees who will lose their jobs this week. The job cuts, which were slightly deeper than some had expected, raised questions about whether lower costs alone would go very far in addressing RIM's lackluster financial performance or the steady erosion of its market share. The Dalai Lama has outstripped the following of many icons of cinema and sports, as he disseminates his teachings, speaks on various issues concerning his people and even reaches out to the Chinese people. "To control negative physical and verbal actions, it is necessary to get at their root, the mind, and tame it," is a spiritual lesson from him on Twitter. Amazon all set for launch in India next year

Amazon is in discussions with leading Indian e-commerce players like Flipkart.com, LetsBuy.com and Exclusively .in, among others and may enter the market as early as the first quarter of next year. Acquiring Indian players has been the dominant theme for foreign majors looking to enter Indian market with eBay acquiring Baazee.com and Groupon picking up SoSasta.com to enter the market.
