Maxx Mobile to invest Rs.320 Crore in India

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Maxx Mobile has plans to invest approximately Rs.320 crore to set up a handset and lithium-ion battery manufacturing plant in India. "We have a vision of being a true Indian mobile handset company. Hence, we have decided to set up a mobile handset manufacturing plant at Haridwar in India. At this plant, we will also have a unit to make lithium ion batteries," said, Ajjay Agarwal, Maxx Mobile Communications. The company sees advantages in manufacturing mobile handset in India, rather than importing them from China. Talking about the cost of labour, he said that an average skilled labourer in China costs Rs.15,000 per month, while, in India, the monthly wage for an equally skilled labour is Rs.8,000. Aggarwal added that the company's Haridwar plant falls in a tax-free zone, where it will receive tax exemption till 2020 under the current provisions. Less Carbon emission by Mobile Industry

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE The mobile industry has currently contributed less than one per cent to the total carbon emissions in India and this is expected to grow to 1.5 per cent by 2015, according to Cellular Operators' Association of India (COAI). The Association will formulate a detailed and sustainable emission reduction programme, with realistic time frames, the statement said. A large amount of operating expenditure is spent on running the network on diesel annually due to the shortage of grid supply and limited availability of scalable alternate energy sources. At a meeting between the representatives of the Greenpeace and COAI to discuss the details of their carbon emission reduction programme, it was felt both organizations should work together to adopt a coordinated and cooperative action plan for the industry to reduce carbon emissions. MTNL to share infrastructure with private Telcos

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd. (MTNL) plans to share its passive infrastructure, including towers, with private service providers as part of its efforts to boost revenue and put the state-owned company back in the black in two years. MTNL, which offers services in Delhi and Mumbai, has about 1,400 towers and plans to add 700 more this financial year. It had reported a loss of around Rs.2,800 crore for 2010-11. According to sources, MTNL had invited expression of interest (EoI) for sharing of base transceiver stations (BTSs) and other passive infrastructure in Delhi. Subsequently, an EoI for sharing of BTS sites in Mumbai would be called. The company had earlier shared some of its BTS sites with other service providers on an experimental basis. Following its success, MTNL has planned to extend it to both the circles it operates in, according to the official. National Instruments unveils new Digital Video Analyzer

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE National Instruments has introduced the new NI Digital Video Analyzer, which automates a wide range of tests for the latest HDMI sources such as set-top boxes, Blu-ray Disc players and DVD players. The analyzer features configuration-based test steps that automate measurements of HDMI features including 3-D video, HDMI 1.4 protocol and picture quality analysis. With hardware based on the NI PXI Express platform and software designed for multicore computing, engineers can use the NI Digital Video Analyzer to achieve high-performance, high-precision measurements of HDMI content in a fraction of the time required by traditional video test solutions.
