AWS to scale cloud skilling, and accelerate innovation with education technology startups in India:  In line to complement the growth and diversification in the country,   AWS   has find the way to collaborate with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced new initiatives to strengthen the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in India, by empowering school students with cloud computing skills, and enabling entrepreneurs to build innovative education technology (EdTech) solutions on the cloud.   A Statement of Intent (SoI) was signed between  NITI Aayog  and Amazon Internet Services Private Limited (AISPL), which undertakes the resale and marketing of  AWS Cloud services in India .   As per the SoI, AIM will leverage AWS Educate, Amazon’s global program that provides resources for students and educators to accelerate cloud-related learning. Wikipedia to charge Big Tech companies for leeching off its content:  Wikipedia   will begin charging the mega corporations for leeching off its user-generated content. The endeavor paves the way for Wikimedia Enterprises, which will tackle these business dealings.   The many instances of Big Tech tapping into Wikipedia's services include Google Search relying on excerpts from Wikipedia articles and linking to the same for user search queries. Microsoft to focus on Cloud model, lay off 10% of its staff

As a part of it reorganization of its business model to focus on selling cloud computing infrastructure and services under the Azure brand, Microsoft is cutting around ten percent of its global sales force.  In an official statement last week the company said, "Microsoft is implementing changes to better serve our customers and partners. Today, we are taking steps to notify some employees that their jobs are under consideration or that their positions will be eliminated.”  "Like all companies, we evaluate our business on a regular basis. Govt. finalizes cloud service providers; AWS name missing

The government has finalised provisional empanelment of Cloud Service Offerings of Cloud Service providers (CSPs) coined as MeghRaj today but Amazon Web Services (AWS) name is missing from the list. With reference to the RFP dated 30th December 2015, MeitY (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) has successfully concluded the evaluation process of provisionally empaneling the Cloud Service Offerings of Cloud Service Providers. The letter of empanelment has been awarded to the following cloud service providers for two years, subject to the written acceptance of terms and conditions within 15 days.... Read More

AWS adds Microsoft Windows Server Instances to Free Usage Tier

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Amazon Web Services LLC (AWS), an Amazon.com company has unveiled that customers can now run their Microsoft Windows Server applications within the AWS Free Usage Tier - a program claimed to be designed to help new AWS customers get started in the cloud. Developers and businesses with Windows Server applications are expected to take advantage of 750 hours of Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) Micro Instance usage per month, at no charge for a one year period.
