Nokia Networks will start trailing 5G-ready solution in 2016 and is targeting to make it commercial available in 2017. The company is leading the way to implementing 5G-ready massive broadband in areas with millions of homes near to fiber but without last hop connectivity via fiber to the home. Bharti Airtel has selected Nokia Networks to roll out its 3G network in five new telecom circles and network expansion in three existing telecom circles. Under the 4-year contract, the company will provide its radio elements and services expertise to power Bharti Airtel’s infrastructure. Nokia Networks’ Chennai factory has achieved a major milestone. After having been in  operation for nearly seven years, this announcement was made during an event which was attended by Shri Amitabh Kant, Secretary for Industrial Policy and Promotion, Government of India, government officials, European delegates and customers. Nokia Networks’ Chennai factory is the largest manufacturing facility in the Indian telecommunications equipment manufacturing sector, and a strategic hub for Nokia’s global operations. Bharti Airtel has commissioned Nokia Networks to expand its 4G presence to six new circles using Nokia Networks’ radio network. The deal marks India’s first FDD-LTE deployment on 1,800 MHz that will witness the launch of super-fast mobile broadband in 6 circles. Nokia Networks, already a supplier of Bharti Airtel’s TD-LTE network, will also deploy TD-LTE on the 2,300 MHz in two other circles.
