BlackBerry and Baidu collaborate to deploy autonomous vehicle technology

BlackBerry and Baidu have announced that the two companies will collaborate to accelerate the deployment of connected and autonomous vehicle technology for automotive OEMs and suppliers worldwide. The companies have signed a statement of intent to make BlackBerry QNX’s industry-leading ISO26262 ASIL-D certified safety operating system (OS) the foundation for Baidu’s Apollo autonomous driving open platform. Mobile apps platform Baidu Yi rolled

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Baidu Inc has rolled out its new mobile application system- Baidu Yi. The platform, based on Google's Android mobile operating system, will include applications such as maps and an online store. The application will also be built for Baidu's website. Baidu has also unveiled a new homepage design with added features like an area for app downloads as well. Baidu has been expanding into e-commerce, online video and online travel to boost growth. Baidu to shutdown Shuoba in late August

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Baidu Inc is to shut down its Twitter-like microblogging platform, Shuoba, on Aug 22. Kaiser Kuo, a Baidu spokesman, declined to give a reason for the closure but industry experts chalked up Shuoba's stringent real name verification features as the reason the service failed to gain much traction with China's netizens. Shuoba competes with Sina's highly popular microblogging service Weibo which has over 140 million users. The firm posted a notice on Shuoba's website claiming that due to business adjustments, Shuoba was shutting down and urged users to back up their personal data. Although Twitter and Facebook are inaccessible in China, Chinese Internet companies have filled the void with similar microblogging and social networking products.
