ZTE’s profit surges 42% with revenue up 10%

ZTE has announced its net profit rose 41.9% to RMB883 million or $142 million in Q1 2015, whereas revenue grew up to 10.2% to RMB21 billion. The operating revenue from telecom software system, services and other products increased 23.4%. Its growth is from video and networks terminal product, in addition to services. ZTE will focus on its main operations of carrier Networks,enterprize bussiness and mobile devices.ZTE will committed for developing solutions for smarter networks to support carrier in their transformation in to information based operations. Amazon acquires Amiato data migration start-up

The Palo Alto-based start-up specializes in taking data from a variety of modern databases and migrating it into Amazon’s online archiving service named Redshift. The company received $2 million in funding from Data Collective, Andreessen Horowitz, Ignition Partners and others. This acquisition targets small companies, particularly niche like 2lemetry, an Internet-of-Things firm Amazon purchased last month, and Israeli semiconductor start-up Annapurna Labs, which the online retailer agreed to buy in January. Amazon came up with its first set of Web-services products almost 10 years ago. Power of video collaboration still to realize – Polycom survey

Polycom has announced the results of a new survey which analyzes how video collaboration solutions are currently being used in business. The study was commissioned by Polycom and conducted by Quocirca. The study reveals that more than 90 per cent of those who regularly use video to collaborate are experiencing higher productivity, better teamwork, financial savings and reduced travel expenses. Over 80 per cent directly link their fiscal savings to making faster business decisions and improving employee’s work/life balance. Although the survey uncovered many benefits of using video collaboration, barriers to broad adoption still exist. One of every two people surveyed suggested that having more access to video would increase use. Microsoft provides basic skills to sex workers in Delhi

Going out of its regular corporate social responsibility route, Microsoft has initiated to develop a centre in one of Delhi’s largest red light area. Through Microsoft’s YouthSpark initiative and along with a voluntary organization, the company is providing basic IT and job skills to sex workers and their children at the `Pahal Centre’ on Garstin Bastion road in New Delhi. Microsoft is associated with the Pahal Centre through Aide Et Action International, an international development-profit organization since 2014, where already two batches of 30 students each (who were taught basic IT skills and spoken English for three months) have graduated. Apart from training and skilling, the centre also provides daycare facilities to the children of sex workers in the area. DGAD proposes high Anti-dumping Duty on USBs

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Directorate General Of Anti-Dumping & Allied Duties (DGAD) has released an investigation report  that puts across a proposal for an Anti-dumping Duty  @$3.12 (Rs 199.01) per piece and @$3.06 (Rs 195.18) per piece irrespective of capacity of USB flash drives manufactured in China and Taiwan respectively. The report will be presented before the Finance Minister and once his approval is taken, it is expected to become a law in a week or two. At current prices of 4GB and 8GB products this duty represents apex 125% to 140% over the FOB or freight on board prices. The anti-dumping investigation was initiated on the basis of data submitted by Moser Baer solely represented as Domestic Industry. The investigating period was 2012.
