HP seizes counterfeit print cartridges and components of Rs.34 crore

In an effort to safeguard customers from fraudulent products, HP(NYSE:HPQ) has confiscated counterfeit print cartridges and components worth Rs.34 crore in 38 cities across 19 states in India. HP has collaborated with local law-enforcement authorities to make this action possible. The local authorities raided and took legal actions against manufacturers and sellers in Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Mizoram, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand and Manipur. NEC Corporation and the DMIC Trust have formed a joint venture company, DMICDC Logistics Data Services Limited , for providing logistics visualization services in India. Both the companies hold 50% of the joint venture’s total capital of approximately 8 million Indian Rupees (INR). Epson raids multiple counterfeit ink manufacturing units in Mumbai

To protect the interest of customers, Epson has conducted a raid on counterfeit ink manufacturing units in Mumbai. The company has recently increased its vigilance and action against manufacturers and dealers of counterfeit Epson Ink bottles . On the basis of the Epson vigilance team’s information, the Mumbai police raided the premises of a dealer in Jogeshwari, Mumbai on 5th March. This dealer was involved in the manufacture and supply of counterfeit Epson Ink bottles in Mumbai and to other parts of the country. The manufacturer of the Epson counterfeit Ink bottles, Mauji Kamji Ora, was arrested and charged under the prevailing laws of the land with counterfeiting and violating intellectual property rights and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. About 1,000 packs of refilled ink bottles were seized along with other equipment, duplicate logos and stickers... Read more

All village panchayats in the country will be connected through fibre optic network . The Centre is hopeful of achieving the complete roll-out of broadband network across 2.5 lakh village panchayats in the country by 2018, telecom secretary J S Deepak today said. The government had earlier set deadline of December 2016 to roll out optical fibre network across all panchayats. COAI appeals to DoT and Telecom Commission for Uniform SUC Rates

Different SUC rates are applicable for spectrum at different points of time. So to bring uniformity, COAI has requested the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) and the Telecom Commission to implement a uniform SUC charge across spectrum bands for the industry. The new norms are expected to bring uniformity and introduce a level-playing field. Rajan S. Mathews, Director General, COAI , said, “Uniform Spectrum Usage Charge will not only bring simplification, but also eliminate the possibility of arbitrage. RailTel launches Wi-Fi service at Bhubaneswar in collaboration with Google

Railtel has launched public WiFi at Bhubaneswar station effective 17th April, 2016. The service was launched in the presence of Shri Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu, Union Minister of Railways , and dedicated the service to the large number of commuters of Bhubaneswar station. The Wi-Fi facility for the visitors of Bhubaneswar station has been commissioned by RailTel in association with Google for providing high-speed internet experience to the commuters. RailTel Corporation of India Ltd, a Mini-Ratna PSU under the Ministry of Railways, has been mandated by the Railways Ministry to provide Wi-Fi for the use of passengers at the A1, A & B category railway stations... Vodafone welcomes spectrum harmonization initiative by Government

The Government has recently taken initiatives to harmonize spectrum in select bands and reduce the subscriber usage charges (SUCs) which will lead to growth of telecom sector. Vodafone India has welcomed the government’s initiative. Mitel to buy Polycom for $ 1.96 Billion

Following the closing of the deal worth $ 1.96 Billion, Polycom shareholders  will hold nearly 60 percent and  Mitel shareholders  will hold approximately 40 percent of Mitel. Richard McBee, chief executive officer of Mitel , will lead the combined organization and  Steve Spooner, chief financial officer of Mitel , will also continue in that role. Brocade and VMware will be deploying network functions virtualization (NFV) solutions for high-speed and in-flight connectivity.
