Sophos: Facebook to terminate its old look, makes Timeline mandatory for users

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Sophos has revealed that Facebook is phasing out its old look in next few weeks and making the new profile format mandatory for all users - known as 'Timeline' - which presents a scrapbook of all past status updates and photographs. Sophos research claims that more than 50 percent of internet users are concerned about the Facebook profile update. The online Sophos poll surveyed more than 4,100 global respondents on their opinion of the Facebook Timeline. Key findings from the research include- 51 percent are worried by the Facebook Timeline; Only 8 percent like the new Facebook Timeline; 8 percent say they will get used to it; and 32 percent still don't know why they are on Facebook. VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Oracle has announced the unprecedented ability to process more than one billion records and generate 500,000 customer bills within an eight-hour nightly window using Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing, Oracle Utilities Meter Data Management and Oracle Utilities Smart Grid Gateway - integrated using Oracle Application Integration Architecture and running on Oracle Exadata Database Machine X2-2and Oracle Exalogic Elastic Cloud X2-2. The test data was a subset extracted from 30 billion interval meter reads. The test, designed according to real business scenarios, processed data reported from 10 million smart meters, each reporting nearly 100 reads per day, which is representative of the daily processing needs for a typical utility service provider. Wipro Technologies granted patent by USPTO for its StORM

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE Wipro Technologies has announced that it has been granted a patent by USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) for its StORM (Statistics Operations Research Matrix) methodology. Wipro 'StORM' is a system and method for software test suite optimization, achieved by generating an Orthogonal Array (OA) for software testing using the mathematical principles for OA. This method is said to result in reducing the number of test cases many fold downwards and at the same time increases the effectiveness of the testing process, thus reducing the testing cycle and effort required. MTN extends its managed services agreement with Ericsson

Samsung ships 35 million units

The Mobile business of the Samsung has contributed roughly 40% of the total sales and half of its operating profit ($2.3 billion).
