Telecoms group Altice has named long-serving sector executive Michel Combes as its Chief Operating Officer and Chairman of its Numericable-SFR mobile phone business, saying the appointment would help accelerate the group’s expansion. Combes is joining a company controlled by Patrick Drahi, who has been on a buying spree, including the purchase of Vivendi’s SFR, a French mobile firm, to create Numericable-SFR. Based in Crawley, West Sussex, the 130,000 square foot data centre will help to meet the growing demand for managed cloud services in the UK and Europe. The facility has been designed with the specific needs of Rackspace customers in mind, encompassing top speeds, availability and energy efficiency.
