Toyota to spend $50 Million on artificial intelligence study and development

Toyota is all set to make a $50-million investment on research and development of artificial intelligence for the next five years. The company is collaborating with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University for the project.

The initiative will focus on developing intelligent vehicles and life-improving robots to meet the challenges of expanding urban centres and ageing populations.

The partnership will see joint research centres established at each university under the direction of Dr Gill Pratt, former Programme Manager at the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
