Bhubaneswar holds conference on Smart Bhubaneswar

Post demonetisation and the crisis faced by the country, the 9th Odisha Information Technology Fair – 2017 (OITF) holds much more importance to understand the actual groundwork going on the smart city front. MediaTek trains 43 NIELIT Professionals on mobile design

TCS appoints Rajesh Gopinathan as CEO; NG Subramaniam as COO

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has appointed Rajesh Gopinathan as chief executive officer and managing director and NG Subramaniam as chief operating officer.  Gopinathan takes over from N Chandrasekaran who has been appointed as the chairman of Tata Sons, effective February 21, 2017. N Ganapathy Subramaniam, (NGS) who is currently president, TCS Financial Solutions has been appointed as the president and chief operating officer. Arun Jaitley launches Airtel Payments Bank; Commits investment of Rs 3,000 Cr

Airtel Payments Bank, India’s first payments bank was launched by union minister of finance and corporate affairs Arun Jaitley nationally, and is now live in all 29 States of India. N Chandrasekaran appointed chairman of Tata Sons

The board of directors of Tata Sons, at its meeting has unanimously appointed N Chandrasekaran as executive chairman, Tata Sons. N Chandrasekaran shall take charge from February 21, 2017. The board of Tata Sons said, “Chandrasekaran has demonstrated exemplary leadership as the chief executive officer and managing director, Tata Consultancy Services. We believe he will now inspire the entire Tata group to realise its potential acting as leaders in their respective businesses, always in keeping with our value system and ethics and adhering with the practices of the Tata group which have stood it in good stead.” Chandrasekaran was the chief executive officer and managing director of Tata Consultancy Services since 2009. A Tata lifer, he had joined the company in 1987 and was appointed as a director on the board of Tata Sons on October 25, 2016.

Gionee to double revenue in 2017

Gionee, a leading smartphone brand is planning to double its revenue in 2017 to reach Rs 8,000 crore.  In 2016, Gionee claims to have sold one 1.25 million devices to reach a turnover close to Rs 3,200 crore. The company also claims to have grabbed 5 per cent market share in India.   Spending heavily across consumer touch points the young brand has been associated with major sports including cricket, football, kabaddi and badminton. As a part of intense brand building initiatives, the company has co-sponsored the Premier Badminton League as a mobile partner and ODI trophy. The brand will also continue to sponsor all cricket matches till March 2017... AIIMS partners with MobiKwik to become Cashless

In the wake of demonetization, AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences), Delhi has partnered with MobiKwik to convert all its payment facilities cashless. To commence with, resident doctors, staff and visitors can pay with MobiKwik in the institution’s cafeteria. Payment of doctor’s consultation, tests and other services will be made cashless by the first week of January 2017. AIIMS is a medical college and medical research public university based in New Delhi. The Institute was established in 1956 and operates autonomously under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Airtel offers free data to customers who switch to Airtel 4G

Bharti Airtel, India's largest telco today announced free data for 12 months, worth up to Rs 9,000, to customers who switch to Airtel 4G.  The 12 months offer is available to any customer with a 4G mobile handset that is currently not on the Airtel network. Any customer, including existing Airtel customers, upgrading to a new 4G handset can also avail this offer. This offer will be available to customer across India starting tomorrow and will close on February 28, 2017.   Customers will get free 3 GB data every month till December 31, 2017 with select prepaid and postpaid packs under this offer.
