(QTM) has certified Quest Software’s vRanger Pro software with the Quantum DXi V1000 virtual deduplication appliance for data protection in VMware environments. The integrated 100 percent virtual solution provides vRanger customers with enterprise-class backup and disaster recovery (DR) and is designed to maximize protection while minimizing costs. The DXi V1000 joins other DXi-Series physical deduplication appliances already certified with vRanger - including the DXi4500 (SMB), DXi6700 family (midrange and enterprise) and DXi8500 (enterprise) – extending the Quantum-Quest joint solutions. (QTM) has increased the storage density and power savings in its DXi8500 appliances, creating disk backup and deduplication solution for enterprise customers. The DXi8500 now incorporates 3TB disk drives to deliver 50-per cent greater storage density, 42-per cent more power savings and 25-per cent higher performance. In addition, Quantum has also announced that the new DXi8500 encrypts data at rest without impacting performance, just one of several data security enhancements.  "Our customers increasingly want to keep more data for longer periods, and they have to keep it secure and manage it at a lower cost throughout the data lifecycle. They need to accomplish this while meeting increasingly demanding SLAs.
