STMicroelectronics Launches New Sensor Electronics

Image
VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   STMicroelectronics  has revealed a new generation of ICs using an advanced manufacturing process that helps save energy, improve accuracy and simplify the design of sensors for applications from automotive electronics to smart buildings and industrial controls.  The new ICs are miniature amplifiers(op-amps). Benefiting from the advanced 16V CMOS manufacturing process, developed in-house, ST’s new op-amps deliver better accuracy than existing devices, with greater long-term stability. Moreover, the process enables tiny die sizes permitting ultra-small surface-mount packages. Extremely low power consumption makes the op-amps ideal for battery or solar-powered equipment.... VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   STMicroelectronics (STM) has unveiled its smallest, lowest-power and highest-performance chip-scale gyroscope for advanced motion-sensing applications. 3 x 3mm and 1mm high, the new device is only 3 x 3mm and 1mm high and enables smaller sensing mechanisms in smart consumer electronics, including mobile phones and tablets, game consoles, digital cameras and industrial tools. In addition, the ultra-small dimensions of this gyroscope also allow experimental projects such as wearable electronics to move closer towards true practicality.  "Miniaturized, low-power sensors such as our new L3GD20H enable smart electronics to be used in ever-smaller and slimmer handheld devices, as well as in items such as clothes or sports equipment, creating opportunities for exciting new products and services. Both high-volume applications in smartphones and tablets and emerging applications such as prosthetics, medical instruments, goods track...

STM expands its sensor portfolio

VARINDIA- INDIA'S FRONTLINE IT MAGAZINE   STMicroelectronics has expanded its sensor portfolio with an e-compass module. The integration of motion and magnetic sensing in a tiny 3x3x1mm package opens new possibilities for advanced navigation and location-based services in portable consumer devices.  The ST e-compass’ features the ability to provide accurate heading information, it indicates the direction in which a person or vehicle is moving - enables a wide range of applications, including pedestrian dead-reckoning, map/display orientation, and direction finding. Tied to location-based service apps, compassing capabilities can help consumers identify and retrieve information on nearby points of interest, by simply pointing their GPS-equipped mobile devices in the direction of the object concerned. The LSM303D module provides accurate output across full-scale ranges up to ±16g (linear acceleration) and ±12 Gauss (magnetic field). The device embeds a temperatur...

Sony fortifies its Product Portfolio
